On May 12th I called in to see @AnalogueWendy in her studio in Oxford. She had a lovely display of some of her work on the wall which has got me wanting to dedicate some time to learning the art of using paper negatives.

Not having much old paper left, I have started by using some 7x5 MGIV Satin coated cut down to 5x4.
I developed the contact print in some diluted MG developer

Boy does that bring back memories. I paid my way through college working on the electronics on the Alaskan fishing fleet. Technology made it there slowly and I worked on many, many tube based radios and radars. Also, two of the radar brands we serviced were UK manufactured - Kelvin Hughes and ITT Decca Marine.

I guess I should translate: What we here in the colonies call a "tube", you in the UK call a "valve".

Great to see you starting with paper negs, Ian.

How did you measure - more in the classic way, or did you measue the light instead of the shadows?

I used incident metering with this one as I stoll dont have a spot meter after my Sekonic broke. I placed 1/2 the dome in the shadows and the the other 1/2 where the light source was

Lovely image, Ian. Great contrast control.
So nice to see you here in Oxford - glad you were inspired!
