Hi all - I'm Alex currently living in the Bristol area. I was (re) bitten by the analogue bug at the start of COVID whilst I was living out in the Western USA, and now am the proud owner of a Intrepid Mk4 with a 90mm f8 and a 210 f5.6, a Kiev 60 with the CZJ 50 / 80 / 120mm trio, a Yashica FX3 with a handful of C/Y lenses and a Bessa R2M with 35 / 50 / 75mm lenses. Whilst I'd love to have a permanent setup, with a 4 and an 8 year old in the house, there's no way I can leave my dark room set up permanently (and I move every 2-3 years with my work so can't have anything too permanent!) but I have the OG Intrepid 5x4 kit, and their compact enlarger which I can set up in my very compact downstairs toilet. I've not been brave enough to enlarge my LF negs in this house yet, but really enjoy the little enlarger for 135 and 120. I've got a spares or repairs Durst 300 on its way to me which I intend to dump the head from, but use the baseboard and column as a significant upgrade over tripod mounting my enlargers!

Also - I have a long term plan to equip a retirement project darkroom and have been looking at the 504 currently in the classifieds with covetousness!!

Looking forward to being involved here.

Welcome from up the M5 in North Worcestershire.

Welcome from just outside Chippenham. Might have to sort out a 4x5 day in the area

I could definitely be up for that before sunrise gets to too ungodly an hour!
There is always something to be had at any hour of the day, that said the harbour area has been on my list to do for ages. Not sure where I would need to park for an early start but I'm sure I can figure that out.

Hello Alex, what about starting photographing in 5x4 with the eight-year-old? I did this with my children. We took photographic paper and made paper negatives. You can copy them. It works with Moersch Eco developer, it's not so toxic. Children understand very quickly. The large camera is unexpectedly intuitive. And they can hold something in their hands. A delicious pleasure. - Also, if you go hiking, the children can look for the best view. That will make them tired, they will sleep like marmots then ...

I'm not sure she's got the patience just yet..! We got her a little digital camera with a thermal printer for her Christmas which she absolutely loves, and she's got a surprisingly good eye. In a year or two - definitely an option, but I think it's an almost guaranteed argument just now!
