Tintype

Interesting. Beautiful little studio.
One second exposures (and of course those lights are very close). I assumed the emulsion was slower than that?
I'll have a try someday, somewhere.

One of the members of the film photo group I am a member of (North West Film Photo) shoots tintypes as well as 11x19 plates when he can find them. There is also a fabulous tintype on display at the Manchester Art Gallery.

Fascinating stuff, thank Martin.

I have been trying to get my head round tintype and ambrotype, I don't have the sort of power of studio lights that would be needed so can only work with ambient. I am really struggling to get a clean exposure, with so many variables it may take some time to pin down the problem, anybody who wants to join me and help is more than welcomePSX_20231120_184324.jpg

Karit, what is your development time as it looks like it could be over developed as it is a little foggy. It could be overexposure too. I try to keep my dev to 15secs for positives. If that is your dev time the try cutting exposure a bit.
