Yes, truncks are sold for cabinetmaking or house constructions. The "heads" of the trees are sold every year at low price to local people for firewood. One can also get whole younger trees in plots where clearing is needed for forest management. This way of warming houses is less and less common since one needs to be equiped (chainsaw, tractor...) and it takes time. I did that for 15 years and then gave up!

We live near Plestin-les-Grèves (22) and order our firewood, kiln-dried and pre-cut to 40cm and 30cm, in crates of just over 2 stères. All we have to do is split them and put them in the foyer. Lovely, toasty warm radiant heat. So much cosier, and cheaper, than electricity.This way of warming houses is less and less common since one needs to be equiped (chainsaw, tractor...) and it takes time. I did that for 15 years and then gave up!
