McKinley School - Spokane, Washington 2020

Excellent control of tonality. You’ve done well with ostensibly unpromising subject-matter.
May I ask why you didn’t point the camera a little bit more to the right?

Thank you very much. The composition here seemed satisfactory to me at the time, but I agree that a bit more to the right would have improved this photo. I did have some room to maneuver, but not much. There were cars visiting A-1 Auto Repair on the left and Pro Collision to the right, and I did not want to include these in the scene. I could not move forward or back without standing in traffic on the alley or street. A shorter lens would have brought in the unwanted cars, and a longer one would have eclipsed the cargo box skeleton. This 2017 view from Google Maps will give you a sense of what I confronted.

I understand completely. We’ve all been there.
