Bought and brought home my first and probably last 8 X 10 or as some of you might say 10 X 8 today.
Calumet "C" field camera it's all metal and weighs a ton but very rigid. It'll be fun.

I've never owned one, but played around with a couple of the years. It's a very solid camera and should serve you well. Just keep in mind a Brett Weston quip I heard many years ago... "If it's more than 500 feet from the car, it's not worth photographing!" :D Or, something like that. I don't even know if he was the first to say it.

Have fun, it can't be any heavier than my Agfa Ansco 10x8 and as one member here can attest I have been known to carry it over the North York Moors and a bit further than 500ft from my car :D

Incidentally Brett Weston used an Agfa Ansco 10x8.

Ian, I remember it well... I also remember that you propped it up just inside the door of the pub, safe in the knowledge that nobody would have the strength to pick it up and run off with it.

Woah!

I thought I was getting into Large Format Photography... Now it seems I am using a "compact format"! ;)

Enjoy and SHARE!

Martin,
Once it's on the tripod (no light weight either) i'll need to hire some bearers to move it about.

The National Trust made a similar observation on how far visitors will move from the car park.
