That's not critique' but it is a debate on another thread.

Thanks. I agree the contrast does look a bit low. I have been playing around with different versions of this , in order to get something worth printing, and still haven't made my mind up. Here it is with more contrast.Rock pool Dentdale 2.jpg
 
Thank you. I also had a few that ended up in the bin! One problem was that the camera I built had too many movements - I didn't realise I wouldn't need them all - but no easy way to "zero" them. This was a real design fault. I would pull the camera out of the bag then spend ages zeroing everything before I could start. And sometimes I didn't get it right. It put me off using the camera for some time. Eventually I built another camera with "improvements", then another....It was a long process but eventually I ended up with three cameras that all work very well, and serve different purposes.
 
The contrast of the first version looks perfect, Alan, and it's a lovely image.

Thanks Ian. You know how Blakemore used to talk about a flexible negative - one that could be printed in different ways. This seems to be one, by accident I should say, not design. So I'm still trying to figure out the best way to print it.
Something that may interest you Ian. The negative was expired HP4

I have to say, om MY monitor the higher contrast is nice.
The changes you made appear very subtle.

Anyhoo! Please don't take that as critique,

By all accounts it's down to what monitor people use.

Well, that and failure to calibrate their monitors.
 
After a lot of consideration I think I prefer the second version because it has a little more oomph which I like.
