Windmill at Night

I went out the other night about 7:30pm with ideas of doing a few night shots, well after this one I was so cold I only took this one. It was a 30 min shot @F22 Ilford FP4. The wind was coming straight off the sea.

I would have risen up a bit to get the propeller entirely and have less foreground, but I guess framing was not easy.
By the way, how did you metered ?

Francis the windmill was lit with deep red light, I am sure this had an effect on my meter reading, the lights around it were a deep red, so it was not a bright scene at all, I metered in the center of the windmill that was as close to white light as I could get, then I took a reading from the darkest part I wanted detail in, and then averaged out. I was going to use Fomapan 400, but with reciprocity added time it was well over the hour mark so ditched that idea, luckily I had a darkslide loaded with FP4 with me, I then went with just my first reading with the recip added it was 30 mins.

They do change the color of the lights, the last time I was there at night it was blue, but these colors make it hard for nightime shots, especially for long exposers when it's very cold as it was on this night.
I thought I had the top of the sail in the ground glass screen but not quite enough. The lens on my Snapshot is a Technika Super Angulon 75m @F8 so its quite a dark image on the screen even in normal day light, but something to improve on.

I did not want to tilt the camera to much as this camera has no front standard movements. I really want to take this shot on some 4x5 Kodak Ektachrome E100 but need to wait till it gets warmer.

Very nice, I like it. I'm impressed you had the willpower to wait 30 minutes for the shot, I have a hard time with anything over ten minutes...
