I am getting a bit worried now. Perceptol has been out of stock everywhere in the UK for quite a while. Something going on with Ilford we should know?

Ilford out sourced their chemistry manufacture when they closed their plants in Essex and moved everything to Mobberley. They had worked closely with May & Baker (Champion) who then began manufacture of Ilford as well as Paterson chemistry. Then some years ago Kodak signed an exclusive deal with Champion to manufacture all their chemistry. Ilford had to find new partners, and Paterson chemistry disappeared, including the excellent Phototechnology C41 & vE6 kits.

Some Ilford chemistry then came from Tetenal, however they went bankrupt last year, so it has taken time for some products to be re-stocked. ID-11 and Bromophen are back in stock, but not Microphem, Perceptol, or Harman Warmtone developer.

however to note, MOST places only have the 5 litre ID-11 kit, and are happy to provide it at about a 60% increase of price based on the Ilford website. Gosh, online retailers are only charging 12-22$ more for Ilfotec HC then what Ilford charges customers.

But at least be happy that the chemicals hitting stores are what they ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. Have you had to waiti for a back order item to arrive, only to find it unusable? No? dont complain too much.

Ive used ecopro chemicals, the film developer was good, then about the time Kodak changed suppliers and Xtol went crazy with hard to dissolve chemicals,,, so did the eco pro film developer that was an xtol clone..

The prices of raw chemicals have skyrocket, shipping cost have soared, it's related to the Ukraine war.

not at all.

Its like saying that the price of dove soap has gone up because latvia stopped produciton of beta max this week.

If the price rise is in the UK, Brexit is almost certainly to blame. It can be blamed for everything except Harry-and-Meghan.

Here in the UK/Europe we had huge increases in the cost of electricity and gas because of the war in Ukraine. Reality is read what Mirko of Adox has written, he essentially moth balled his new ex Ilford coating plant in Marly, Switzerland, because it's become too expensive to heat during winter months, and be competitive.

Shipping costs have risen dramatically, that by sea and iar, just look at International postage costs now compared to 3 years ago.

I also think the global inflationary cycle isn't helping anyone here. During COVID, governments spent money they did have and that's now coming back to haunt us in the form of inflated currency. It's was bad here in the US but is starting to abate. I would expect the same globally soon enough. Then again, having raised prices, companies are loathe to cut them ...
