Anyone using a Voigtlander 150mm f/4.5 lens?

I'm looking for info regarding using filters for this lens. A 39mm filter is slightly too small and a 40.5mm is fractionally too large. I don't have anything in-between to try. There is a thread on the inside of the front lip. Anyone here using this lens? Thanks.

Yes, but I've never tried fitting any filters on it. I'll check and see if I can find anything that matches in my filter box.

Although there are threads, it appears that it could be a 42mm push-on.

On some old lenses the threads are only there to allow the front retaining ring (with the lettering on) to screw in, so would be some sort of oddball size, not really designed for filters.

You could always do it the simple way and just blu-tack a 49mm or 52mm filter onto the front.

You need a slip on filter. A lot of the older German made lenses for MF folding cameras and LF do not have proper filter threads. You need to measure the outside diameter of the lens, and then look for a suitable slip on filter. Personally, I'd just get a larger filter and handhold it in front of the lens Just prior to releasing the shutter.

Could you tape/glue the outer thread of a stepup ring, or glueing the 40,5mm filter (without the glass) to the lens, as a mediator between lens and filter?

I could but I want a non-destructive option. For now I will hold the filters in front of the lens but longer time I'll look into having an adapter 3D printed which will slip over the lens.

Oh, yes - as a metal worker I didn't think of 3D printing. Can't imagine printing such fine threads for the filters??

I made a slip-over filterholder with clamp out of aluminum, which takes 55mm glass filters for my 135mm lenses like a Xenar:




For my 4,5/210 Xenar I made a multifunctional and threaded filterholder version, taking 67mm glass filters:






To you, a patent like the Linhof filter holder, which also fits my multifunctionally adapter, may be of interest -
it's a slip-over version with a nice clamp, too:






For lenses with smaller diameters than the lens, one only need simple adapter rings (either of metal or of plastic) with different inner diameters, slipped over all of your lenses and locked with tiny screws, for slipping over the Linhof holder.
The Linhof usually comes with a sunshade. Both parts are are screwed together, and it mainly takes Lollipop filters (filters with a grip, looking like a Lollipop). It's a "sticking filters in" system, no threads/screwing filters needed..
