Advice On Developing FP3

Ive just been given some exposed Ilford FP3 120 roll film which could be around 40 years old. It was handed to me in a metal tin which again looks around 40 years old but we are not sure if its always been stored in there.

The only developer I have to hand is PyrocatHd or HC110 and i was thinking of using the HC110. Looking at times for FP4 which for dilution B 1:31 is 8 minutes. I was going to add around 20% to this bringing the time to around 9 1/2 minutes to try and boost contrast a little.

My other option was to use dilution H 1:63 and again add 20% bringing the total time to around 19 minutes.

Does this seem feasible before I proceed.

Sounds OK. Be aware FP3 is a much s0fter emulsion than FP4 and is prone to reticulation, so every stage of processing must be +/- 1º C. It's a film I used a lot as a youth ex Government stock was very cheap compared to FP4.

Thanks Ian
I have no idea at what stage the latent image is, for all I know, it may have even disappeared. There are a couple of other rolls in this tine which I have not idea what they are. I shall upload a photos soon incase anyone can identify them

You should get something. Funnily enough I have a "Pocket Exposure Guide for Ilford Films" in front of me right now, it came with a boxed Zeiss Ikon Nettar last Sunday.

Here are another 3 types of film in the tin which I need to develop, can anyone identify them please

Verichrome Pan was the Kodak equivalent of Ilford Selochrome, a similar processing time will be fine for all 3 films.

Thanks Ian, I am going to develop one soon in HC110 and see how it goes

Also in the box are a number of exposed glass plates and the camera which was used

There is also a box maybe 1/2 full of unexposed glass plates.

Just done a straight scan from one of the plates and they don't seem to have suffered much damage at all
