Agfapan 25 MPP MkVI 90mm Super Angulon and Red Filter

I found a 5x4 box (a few sheets left) of my much missed Agfa Pan 25 at the back of my film fridge. The above image is very difficult to print in the Darkroom but makes a very good Cyanotype digital neg/image.

120 AP25 and later APX25 and a roll film back were my back up films when out for hours with my LF camera. Fantastic films with incredible fine grain and very high resolution. I never used AP25 as a sheet film, APX25 disappeared when one of the chemicals needed for the emulsion went out of production, sales were too low for Agfa to recover any R&D costs in re-formulating it.

I still have a roll of both AP25 and APX25 maybe it's time to use them, from memory APX25 & APX100 replaced AP25 and AP100 in the late 1980's so your box of AP25 is over 30 years old :D

Thirty years sounds about right.... wonder if it is still usable?

Depends on storage but the slower the film the longer it'll keep as it takes far longer to build up base fog from background radiation..

There isn't another normal film as fine grained, yes some Micro film and Technical Pan are possibly finer but don't give good tonality. EFKE PL25 was roughly similar and a stop faster 50 EI daylight/25 EI Tungsten light, but it's Ortho-Panchromatic (less Red sensitive). I still have a few boxes of PL25.

What I particularly liked about AP25/APX25 and AP100/APX100 was they gave true box speed, to get similar results with Tmax100 and 400 I had to use half box speed. I never found any noticeable differences between the AP and APX versions. I used to buy Agfa film, Rodinal, & Record Rapid paper Gds 2 +3 from Leeds Cameras in Birmingham and they always had it in stock, years later Kevin (now at Phase One) told me I was the only customer buying the products but that as soon as I'd made a purchase they'd restock.

Definitive feedback !!Will we ever see its like again I ask? BTW
I also have an unopened pack of 20x24 Agfa Record Rapid to take a brave pill and have a go at. Great comment , loved it, many thanks.
