I met up with Alan, many years ago in Gothland (North Yorks Moors). WE had arranged to meet in the pub made famous by Hearbeat (UK drama which became almost Soap)_ As I approached the pub a local said what the f*** are you doing going in there, go over the road, what had been a B&B had become a hotel and pub.
At that point someone carrying Ilford boxes appeared, it was Alan, so we went to the other premises. I was carrying my 10x8 Agfa ansco on its tripod, my niece had my Wista on another tripod. We had just hiked 5 or 6 miles over the North Yorks Moors, carrying the cameras.
A big "wise" guy sat propping up the bar said what the f*** is that when he saw my 10x8 camera. I said I'll tell you when I've got a pint.
The big guy was a director or producer of Heartbeat, his film crew and extras around him, they had just destroyed a 250k camera. They asked Alan what was in his boxes, He sold quite a few prints.
I had none with me but sold quite a few the next evening. It was a good night, 5 or 6 prints, more than paid for our holiday.
That must have been at least 20 or 21 years ago, it was before I moved abroad in 2006.
