It's hard to believe that 1.712 people worked at Fernhill Colliery in 1938, it opened in 1872 and closed in 1978, this is all that's left of the site. There were at least 79 collieries in the Rhondda valley.

As film photographers we all use another important product of the Rhondda Valley, Ilford & Fuji source their gelatin from a company in Treforest.

Came face to face with a belligerent looking ram up there many years ago..... Many a sheep vanished on a Sat night and turned up on tables Sunday.
They used to come down from the mountain into Aberdare Park (Cynon Taff) and chomp away on the Spring flowers.
