Cash's Well

Out in Essex there is a strange ruin in a wooded area ... a Greek temple with an iron skeliton of a roof. This is Cash's well. An Edwardian landlord of the famous Angel pub in Islington started a 'cure all mineral water' business and built this structure to cover his 'well'. The young and fashionable would come to 'take his waters' and get up to all sorts of excesses ... until a newspaper found out that the actual water in the well was contaminated with sewage ... and he bottled his actual water from his ordinary supply at home. then sold it at an exorbitant price. The man's name was Mr Cash!
