Having lived abroad where we would get maybe one or two days with rain in a winter, showers more frequently at night, that all changed about 13 years ago and the area's weather pattern is now unpredictable. I move back here 13 years ago, and we sat having lunch at my mother's outdoors in March, scorching sun, while Turkey had horrendously heavy rain fall.
When I workedat an FE College, a student, who we also used as a recording studio technician (paid), was always going on cheap holidays, with his girlfriend and parents. He didn't use the Internet, he was booking last minute through High Street travel agencies, maybe a week before travelling, the savings were amazing. An empty seat on a flight, then the hotel room, etc, is a loss, so the package gets sold at near cost because at least the hotel/resort will benefit from customers spending.
The couple I bought my house off moved back to the street, about 5 years ago, they have been going for 10-14 day holidays in southern Turkey each Autumn for the last 3 years, The cost is so low, but the German agency does them to help extend the employment of the seasonal workers.
Shop around travel agencies.
