The dark side is that such an impressive density of dandelion is the result of intensive fertilisation, and diversity of plant is quite poor in this case...
I live on a small farm which rents out some of the land to a local farmer for arable use but the rest is left as pasture with sheep and horses on year round. I have never seen more than a handful of dandelions on any of the pasture which is why your shot really caught my eye.
As you say, they don't leave much space for other plants. I think the last time I saw a true meadow with wild flowers was probably in my youth...
