Developed a negative, washed it, just about to hang it up to dry and then dropped the dam thing on the floor, emulsion side down

Ah, a technique used by Ansel Adams! I've only tried it once as far as I can recall.

I trust you carefully picked it up and re-washed it Ian - then went away and swore like a trooper - or was it the other was round. ;)

Ian if you pre-wet the negative for an hour or so, then lay it on a glass surface emulsion side up, if you have got one or access to an electric tooth brush, go over the emulsion applying pressure on the negative surface, this will remove all traces of dust, dirt and hairs

What? I've never dropped my film! ;) (nose starting to touch monitor as I type this) :) :)

Leave it alone... hang it up to let it dry properly... then offer it as a one-of-a kind... perhaps even unique, ... on one of the larger auction sites.. It might bring in enough cash... and possibly a glimmer of 'fame'.
