Ilford FP4 Mottled Negatives

Got email from Ilford today requesting a sample of the issue to see if it is linked to their recent statement.

They have emailed me back today as well and requested a picture with the fault, see were it goes from there

Received an email from Ilford Harman
Hi Martin,

Thanks for sending the image – it has now unfortunately enabled me to confirm that all the white marks/spots you’re seeing – are definitely linked to the website statement.

You’ll have seen in the statement that currently we recognise 2 triggers that can cause it – old films (not really applicable in your instance – given your film is still in date till July 21), or films that have been subjected to heat or high humidity. I’m certain you’ll have stored and used your films in careful conditions – but its perhaps a possibility that films were subjected to heat in transit to eg dealers. Or it may be from another trigger – unknown to us yet. We do however still have a very high priority team of people still investigating the causes – so I have now forwarded your findings to them.

I got this email as well this morning.

I'm pleased to say that this arrived this morning...

... consisting 3 replacement FP4+ films plus 1 extra complimentary FP4+ film together with a complimentary Delta 100 film.

Considering I only raised the issue on their website on Sunday after reading the Ilford Statement I can have nothing but praise for the speed at which my complaint has been dealt with and in a most satisfactory manner. I hope Martin and Tommy have an equally good experience.

Arrived this morning, I echo Keith's comment about customer service from Ilford

Wait is over. Got my film pack replaced and a bonus film as well today. Great customer care.
Thanks to Keith for starting the return procedure.

Looks like I have the same issue. I have just come back from France and processed 2 rolls yesterday in Tanol. Although I have not yet printed from them through a loupe I can see the same types of markings. My film is Batch Number 69AFN2T01/03 and /04. I bought 20 rolls and have only used the /03 at the moment. Expiry date is September 2022. Looke like I need to contact Ilford today. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Don't forget a scan file of a typical problem neg and the 4-digit code from the film edge Bill.

Hi Keith, I sent the 4 digit code but could not find a way to send them a scan. My scanner is very basic, an Epson 1200U from about 20 years ago and I have never really learned to use it for negatives only quick and dirty scans of documents. I have got a scan of sorts and am waiting for them to reply as to how to send it. I have managed to photograph the remaining film bricks that I have. Again I could not find a method of sending them. Maybe I will have to wait for their response then reply to that with the scan/images. Darkroom is SO much easier than digital to me.

Having had a look again at the Ilford Web site I think I may have used the wrong contact as I sent the email not the Product Feedback form. I will get the relevant information and send it that way. I notice in the above a comment on an Ilford statement. I did not see that either so has anybody got a link? Thanks.

Here you go Bill, sorry I'm a bit late replying.

Thanks Keith. No problem about the reply time. I found that form eventually and have sent it to Ilford yesterday evening. I now wait for their reply.

My rolls of film arrived today with 3 bonus rolls. Great service as usual from Ilford.EE00AFD2-E4CE-4540-85D3-FB863D80D71B.jpeg

It took a while Bill but ....... :)

I was beginning to wonder where they were but all is well now. Just need the weather to co-operate and the inspiration now.

I am a bit late to the party but just developed a roll of FP4 and it appears I have the same issue.
I have another box here un-opened so not sure if its worth exposing it or not.

I have submitted the feedback form so will have to wait.
