The lighting on 3 is superb. Your friend is very photogenic and you captured him well.

These are very attentive portraits, with a subtle light, I think. The problem is probably getting enough depth of field in combination with soft lighting. This has been skilfully achieved here.

I could stop down to f/32 or f/45, so depth of field was OK.

The table top has marks and scars. Is this part of what he does in real life?
 
Thank you David. Actually this guy is a professor at State University of Haïti and currently in France for still a few months.
For the shooting I wanted to have some basic objects that he could use at his own convenience or not if he decided so.
For the shot were he is leaning on the table he told me: "I am a teacher and this is how I sometimes have to behave to keep students awake !" :).
