I found this, this morning. A Master at work, a Gitzo tripod head and a wonderful hat. It leads on to another interesting video

That's the same Gitzo head as I'm using, I like those long control arms.

When I did my MA I wrote an extended essay on John Davies, he always uses vantage points looking down, never any close foreground. As a consequence, he doesn't need to use movements to control depth of field.

Thanks, David and interesting video, my essay concluded that Kohn was using the same approach to his Urban landscapes as he'd done earlier in the hills and mountains, that's the first time I've seen, or heard, him say as much.

That's a Cambo Wide he's using in the video. These are typically fitted with a 47mm Super Angulon if memory serves ... a lens that has a very long field of focus in any case.

It is not the 47mm SA, it is in fact the Cambo 650 wide angle camera with its 65mm f5.6 wide angle lens, which is larger than the 47mm. The other giveaway clue is the shape of the bars that protect the lens, they differ to the Cambo 470., on the 650 they splay out at the front as the front elements are wider.

Ah, ok, that makes sense. In any case, the short focal length would yield a very large DOF.
