Kodak 4A

Awhile back I found a Kodak 4A, model B, at flea market for less than the cost of 2 pizzas. If you have ever seen one, it exceeds the 4x5 format with a whopping 4 ¼ x 6 ½ negative. That's crazy. That's the good part. The bad part is two-fold:

1) I've yet to see a double sided plate holder for this camera. I've scoured Ebay, Marketplace, and some local forums, but I have come up empty. Technically it's an American 'half plate' (and I think British half plate is slightly longer, but I believe Kodak was the only manufacturer to make this specific size that fits the camera.

2) The Kodak glass plate adapter back that I have, well, it simply doesn't fit. It must be from the A or C model of the 4A. It's about 1/4" too long. I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has an extra 4A glass plate adapter or plate holder laying around. I would even entertain the idea of 3D printing them, but alas, my 3D design skills are lacking.

Would love to hear other people's experiences with the 4A.

Be good to see some photos.

I have an Alliance Roll Film Camera Co Ltd 110 camera, 5x4 negatives, later sold as an Ensign, they were sold with a plate back as well but finding one now is impossible. I'd like to use mine at least once.

Hi Ian,

Here's a couple of photos. I have the film back which fits perfectly. But the glass plate adapter is the one that doesn't seem to fit properly
