lenses around 150mm for 5x7

I've recently picked a 5x7 back for my Sinar p2 and also a sinar shutter. Im looking for a 150mm lens that i will use as a wider lens with my 210mm on 5x7 which is considered a normal lens.

I have done some research and the Schneider 150mm G-Claron f9 process lens is a option depending on how i use it. The Sinar Sinaron ws 150mm f5.6 also. Looking for options. This lens will be interior and studio based. Doing environmental portraits and staged conceptual photography so sometimes deep depth of field with more than one talent in frame.

I will be shooting colour and black and white.

Any ideas and suggestions? As i have the sinar shutter, lenses without a shutter are not a issue.

The 210/9 G-Claron is probably too close to your own 210mm

With your Sinar autoshutter:

Docter Apo-Germinar 150/9 W (barrel as well as shuttered versions) covers 5x7inch format as does the Rodenstock Apo-Sironar-S 180/5.6 (Copal 1 shutter).

The aperture blades of the G-Claron aren't particularly pleasing for specular highlights. For what you are doing, you could probably mine a much richer field by searching for a Taylor Hobson III series (7 inch+ F.L.) or V series (7 inch+). Goertz Red Dot Artars around 8 1/4 inches cover 5x7 inch (no good for you then) otherwise. Ross (Clapham, London/UK) made wide-angles in 6 to 8 inches at least (around f5.6 which are easier to come across than the above however the flange set is face fronting and the rear element then protrudes, rendering the autoshutter inoperable unless you can work out a way to move the shutter forward in front of the lens.

The widest I can think of, is probably the Georg Leitmeyr (Munchen) Weitwinkel quad meniscus designed wide-angle - 121/8. Never owned it. Mine is only a 90mm version.

When using lenses with a protruding rear element with the Sinar copal shutter there are a couple of options I use; 1. use an adapter made by Luland which is basically a spacer made from CNC aluminium. 2. use a bag bellows in-between the front standard with the lens and an intermediate standard with the shutter.

The intrepid lens explorer lists by format and by coverage, there are not a lot of options at 150 if you want movements unless you get something large or expensive.
That g-clarion is not going to give you much movement if any and I can only speculate that you need movements to get depth of field.
180 get you more options but closer to your 210 , other options are go down to 120/121?
Alternative and cheap could be some enlarging lens - some of the Schneider are essentially symmars as far as I understand.

Maybe a but too wide the 120mm f6.8 Angulon. I have a set of Hexanon f9 process lenses, 150mm, 210mm, & 300mm, the 150mm has huge coverage (10x8),.

While the CZJ 165mm Tessar covers postcard size I poppedmy 165mm f5.3 Tessar on my 10x8 Agfa Ansco camera and ot just covers 7x5 at Infinity, coverage would improve at closer distances.

You should find that most bog standard run-of-the-mill 150mm f/5.6 plasmats (so Symmar, Symmar-S, Sironars and the Fuji and Nikon equivalents) will cover 5x7, and you'll gain a bit more coverage if used for studio/interior stuff compared to infinity. So you might not need anything particularly exotic unless you need something with loads of excess coverage.

The official G Claron coverage is known to be very pessimistic, in fact the 150mm is not a million miles off covering 10x8 stopped well down, so 5x7 should be a doddle.

Hey RJ. Thanks for the recommendations. Ive not heard or seen any of the listed so i will have to have a good look. One of the reasons i picked up the sinar shutter was to open the possibilities of using lenses that didnt come with shutters. so many lens designs.

My lenses i have atm which is more tailored for 4x5 are:
*Nikkor sw 90mm f4.5
*Fujinon nw 135mm f5.6
*Nikkor w 210mm f5.6
*Sinar Sinaron S MC 210mm f5.6
