A heads-up for Nik & Trick who are now selling Pyrocat HD, I have no involvement with their enterprise. This was something they have been planning for some time, as well as offering PMK

Pyrocat HD is an excellent developer, and it's been my only B&W film developer for around 15 years, it's great with all the films I've used.

Ian

As of late I have been experimenting with quite a few different developers, some commercially made and some home made from Raw chemicals and I have to say that Pyrocat-HD has always been my favourite one.

It really is a nice clean developer, lasts an awful long time and always delivers exceptional results with all the films I use.

Since the collapse of Wet Plate supplies, the availablity of pre-made PyroCat-HD was very thin in the UK so its great news that Nik and Trick are now offering it to the community

I would like to give this a try, is it really such a great all rounder? I primarly use Ilford HP5, Delta 400, FP4 and Delta 100, and use Ilfotec HC on HP5, both Delta's and Rodinal on FP4, I'm happy enough at the moment but just curious really.

I don't think you will be dissapointed and the fact that they are selling it in 50ml bottles is a greta idea for anyone who may be curious without having to spend on say 500ml or even 1L.

One thing I will say is if you do decide to try it, then feel free to come and ask for any tips on getting the best from it if you are new to this type of developer.

Thank you Ian, I think I will :)

I concur fully with what's been said here. Just remember that Pyro is a toxic agent and you'll want to use appropriate lab protection - eyes, breathing, skin etc. while handling.

I have found Pcat to be a remarkably versatile developer, useful with a variety of techniques and very forgiving when used properly.
