Post Your Questions Regardless How Trivial They May Seem

We are a friendly group of enthusiasts who are extremely passionate about analog film especially large format.

We encourage people to ask any questions to which they are seeking answers for regardless of how trivial they may appear.

Hello Ian

I have just joined your forum and posted a few images as a start. I must say that I have been shocked by the responses, which I find anything but 'friendly'. Two of the images posted received entirely unsolicited critique and one was simply offensive. In fact, given that the comments were so negative they were both offensive. If it is the case that posting images here is automatically taken to be a request for such critique then I will simply stop making such posts. I had thought that it was a case of simply sharing the work with like minded people. In other similar forums there is often a separate posting section for people who want to have critique of their images. If you imagine that this is other members 'trying to help a newbie' then I would point out that; firstly, your members should find a more positive way of doing that, secondly they should wait until asked and thirdly they should be sure that they understand to whom they are addressing their comments - I may be new to your forum, but I am certainly not new to photography.

I am really upset by this situation since I was excited to find a community which was UK based, so much around the western internet is based on the US, but the reception here has been unacceptable so far. I am not quite ready to decide that this isn't a forum for me but not far from it at present

Hello @dsmith ,
I have read your responses to the posts in question and you did raise an interesting point about "critique". Maybe a separate section is required for those who are seeking "critique" of the image posted, something I shall seriously consider.

Hello Ian

I see that there have been further responses to my posts. Many have been supportive and positive. However, there has been further attacks. This seems to be a fundamental issue with interactions online, for some reason it emboldens all those negative characteristics in a small, but vocal minority of people.

I find this to have been an unpleasant experience and as I said, anything but friendly.

Consequently, I will now be removing my profile and deleting this forum altogether from my system - I have no interest in these behaviours from arrogant, ignorant people.

Best wishes with your endeavours

Dave
