Received Pyrocat HD in raw states part A and B, mixed part A no problem, however, mixed Part B but cannot get all the Potassium Carbonate to fully dissolve, mix temp in distilled water was 50c, even tried it hotter, to no avail still wont fully dissolve, and ideas to what or where I am going wrong ?

IF it does not completely dissolve can I filter it and hope it works

Getting the B totally into solution can be difficult because it's such a saturated solution. I'd leave it sit for awhile, stir, let sit, rinse-n-repeat. Since Ian uses and sells Pyrocat, he should have some useful ideas.

Good luck!

Thanks Alan, thinking about it, I probably poured the granules of Potassium Carbonate in the water to fast rather than little by little, I should have known as I realized that problem many years ago mixing 1D11 and D76 , I found that adding the powder slowly while mixing was the way to dissolve all the powder, anyway will have another go when I get more Potassium Carbonate to play with

Martin, I've just mixed 1 litre of Part B. I put half the Potassium Carbonate in a 2 litre jug and added around 50ml de-ionies water at around 60ºC, stirred it then added the rest of the Carbonate, added water to about 750ml, stirring every so often and virtually every thing was dissolved. Then I finally topped up to 1 litre.

I warmed a litre of water but in practice with the Carbonate you'll use around 800ml.

Ian - Did you ever get around to working out the logistics of retailing you PHD mix?

Mike

Yes and No :D

I have plenty, I need to buy some containers and print off labels. Part A is ready mixed (Dry) and I've tested to make sure it'll last like that, however that's how Michael Maunders packaged various developers.
