That's a very attractive scene. Well done.
May I comment on the print, rather than the image itself? The vertical edges seem to be lighter. It might be a coincidence that there is lighter subject matter at both edges or it may a quirk of development. In either case, it would be worth burning the edges. On this screen, it seems more evident in the thumbnail.
It could be a by-product of reproducing the print for the web, in which case this comment should be ignored.

Looking meow closely at the print, it appears its a by-product of how its been reproduced after the scan
 
Ian, I don't want to sound as though I'm nit-picking, but the buildings in your picture look to me as though they are all leaning slightly to the right. As you will be aware this is a worry on the Yorkshire coast. First a building leans over. Then it falls into the sea.
But no need to worry. I've just been shopping in Scarborough, and took a good look at the buildings - and they are all upright. (Yes, even after a glass of wine with my lunch)
So maybe you had the camera tilted...This could easily have been corrected by putting your wallet under the left leg of your tripod. Think on next time!

I shall make a note of that but to be honest my wallet never has anything in it to give the tripod any extra movement :)

After paying to park in Scarborough today, mine hasn't much left in it either.

Proof that Yorkshireman are unfamiliar with seeing their wallets in the open air. Putting it under the left leg will tilt the camera further to the right.
 
David. Pay attention now. If the buildings are tilted to the right, then the camera must have been tilting to the left. Right? So if you place a healthy wallet under the left tripod leg it will, probably, tilt the camera level. Right? Have I left anything out? Or did I have too many glasses of wine in that restaurant in Scarborough?

You're right. All that's left is for me to look you straight in the eye and apologise. Obviously, the wallet should have gone under the right hand leg of Scarborough. Perhaps the town was weighed down by the weight of all the change in the parking machines.
 
In Winter the light in Scarborough can be wonderful and photographers who travel there to make the most of it have traditionally been rewarded with free Winter parking along the sea front between the North and South bays. Not any more. It has just been announced that parking charges will stay in place all Winter from now on. Does the Council realise that David may be right? The extra coinage may tilt the whole town seawards.

By the way David, can you say "Right hand leg" ?

Alan, I've got to hand it to you. As you rightly pointed out, the right leg is the left leg and the wrong leg is the right one. If I'd said "Put it under the right leg", I'd have been right, even though the right leg is not the leg on the right side. There's nothing left but to ask if I've got it right. All straight now?
 
Yes David. All straight. And the sea's level. But Ian's buildings are still leaning, or is it my monitor?

Perhaps a couple of pennies under one side of the monitor. Cheaper than a whole wallet. But which side?
 
I've had this problem when using a tripod on a beach. One leg can sink imperceptibly lower after I've focused, while I'm metering, setting the shutter and all the rest. That's my excuse, but as I've just demonstrated, it might simply be general incompetence.

Before this post gets a little unbalanced, I'd like to say I like the image..... I like the image. Straight up....
 
I was about ten years old when I first went to Scarborough; on a family holiday. The thing I remember most was the street-photographer and his monkey. We ran into him every morning on our way to the beach. My brothers and I would take it in turn to hold the monkey and have our photo taken. Then, on our way back to the guest house at tea time we would rush on ahead with great excitement to see if we could spot our pictures on the wall of the photographer's kiosk. They were always there. And we always made the same joke. We would point to each others photo and ask which one was the monkey.
The 1950s. A different world. I've still got some of those photos. In an old biscuit tin - of course.
