I can't claim any great merit for this image, but it did achieve its objective of demonstrating that it is possible to focus the 65mm Nikon lens to infinity on the SHen Hao with a flat lens board. The Intrepid needed a recessed board which makes it almost impossibly awkward to adjust as I can't get my fingers in to adjust the aperture or to open/close the shutter for focussing.

I've used a 72mm f/5.6 Super Angulon XL on my Wisner Technical without a bag belllows just by tilting the front standard back to put the lens closer to the film plane, and then adjusting the lens tilt for parallelism. It's slightly fiddly, but works just fine.

At the other end of the scale is my 19" APO Artar. The camera has enough bellows draw to focus that lens at infinity, but 19" of bellows in the wind turns the thing into a racing yacht. I found out the hard way that this should only be used on very still days.

If you get a lolly-stick and cut a suitable notch in the end, you’ll find it’s useful for reaching the controls.
It’s also useful to mark your favourite apertures on the front surface of the sunken lens board. A dot from a silver marker pen will do.
