Two New Lenses.

I have just bought these two, a Tele-Congo F6.3 240mm, No1 Copal Press Shutter and a Sinaron S 150mm F5.6. Anybody got or are using these two, any tips or known pro's and cons about using them.

The Sinaron came with a Linhoff lens board, but it would not fit my Intrepid Mk4, So having a 3d printer I just made and printed one. If anybody needs a Linhoff board let me know.

The early Linhof Technikas used a slightly different lens board. Congo lenses aren't very common here in the UK, they were budget lenses based on the Eastman Kodak lenses, they bought the design rights and machinery when Kodak ceased making LF lenses. So they tend to be older designs, my 210mm f6.3 Congo is based on the Commercial Ektar. Your Tele Congo should be fine, Telephoto lenses are easier to make, wide angle lenses that hardest.

Rhe Sinaron S 150mm is just a Sinar selected Schneider Symmar S. There were some quality issues in the early 60's with 90mm Angulin lenses, as a result Linhof and later Sinar would be given batches of lenses, and do their own optical tests, selecting the best, returning the rest.

It turned out the issue with the Angulons was actually a Compur issue causing inconsistent cell spacing, so buying pre SN 5,000,0000 90mm f6.8 Angulons can be a bit hit and miss finding a good sharp one. Linhof had improved Compur shutters for their lenses, there were links through shareholdings.

The linhoff board actually fits in the square of the Intrepid, its the circular ring on the inside of the board that does not go in to the opening on the front standard, its the same size as my original intrepid board, but the hole is off center as well.

They were sold off centre, it helps give more rise,

Well you just answered a question that's bugged me for a while. I bought a 240mm f/5.6 Sironar N in one of those boards and could never figure out why the hole wasn't centered...
 
I will have print one off centre now as well lol.. Every day a school day.

Congo lenses are in rich supply on my dining table right now, I have a collection that I'm just sorting through.
News on shutter sizes to follow . . .
