Interesting. Beautiful little studio.
One second exposures (and of course those lights are very close). I assumed the emulsion was slower than that?
I'll have a try someday, somewhere.
One of the members of the film photo group I am a member of (North West Film Photo) shoots tintypes as well as 11x19 plates when he can find them. There is also a fabulous tintype on display at the Manchester Art Gallery.
I have been trying to get my head round tintype and ambrotype, I don't have the sort of power of studio lights that would be needed so can only work with ambient. I am really struggling to get a clean exposure, with so many variables it may take some time to pin down the problem, anybody who wants to join me and help is more than welcome
Karit, what is your development time as it looks like it could be over developed as it is a little foggy. It could be overexposure too. I try to keep my dev to 15secs for positives. If that is your dev time the try cutting exposure a bit.
